Are numeroase denumiri populare foarte sugestive: <strong>moartea porcilor</strong>,<strong>strugur cainesc</strong>, <strong>umbra noptii</strong>, <strong>bolinzele</strong> etc. Mai are si o ruda apropiata,denumita de unii tot Zirna sau <strong>Lasnicior</strong> (Solanum dulcamara L.), la caretrebuie sa adaugam si specia Solanum laciniatum Ait., Zirna australiana,planta exclusiv de cultura. Au compozitie chimica si simptome toxiceapropiate.<br />
Prima dintre aceste specii (<strong>Solanum nigrum</strong>) este o planta erbacee  cutulpina dreapta, de 15-50 cm, de culoare verziu intunecata. Are frunzeleaproape triunghiulare. Florile sunt de culoare alba si sunt asezate ineflorescente umbeliforme. Staminele au filamente scurte si antere galbene.Fructele, sferice, cu un diametru de 8-10 mm, sunt la inceput verziu, iar lamaturitate negre-lucioase.        <strong>Lasniciorul</strong> (<strong>Solanum dulcamara</strong>) este un semiarbust cu tulpinaagatatoare, lunga de 1-3 m, frunzele lanceolate sau alungit ovale, maruntparoase pe ambele fete, foarte rar glabre (fara perisori). Inflorescentelesunt cimoase, extraaxilare cu 6-25 flori de culoare violeta. Fructele sunt deculoare rosie, foarte rar verde-galbuie, lucioase, ovoidale sau eliosoidale.        Zirna australiana se cultiva exclusiv pentru industria farmaceutica.        Toate cele trei specii contin glucoalcaoizi cu structura steroidicaintre care solanina, solasodina, solamargina, solanigrina, etc.        In caz de intoxicatii, principalele simptome se manifesta prin greata,voma, dilatarea pupilei, halucinatii vizuale, transpiratie si diureza crescuta,tulburari ale sistemului nervos central. Urmeaza paralizia si tulburarirespiratorii, adinamie, colaps, moarte.</p>

        Cunoscuta si sub denumirea de <strong>Ruta de gradina</strong> sau <strong>Ruta de muri</strong>, este
o planta cultivata in gradini, devenind in unele zone sudice subspontana. Desi
cunoscut si utilizat inca din antichitate, virnantul, datorita toxicitatii,
are utilizari limitate in terapeutica. Intreaga planta contine <strong>alacaloizi</strong>
intre care: schimianina si graveolina in fructe si gama-fagarina in radacini.
Uleiul volatil este format din metilnonilcetona, metilheptil si
metilactilcetona. Desi planta contine cantitati apreciabile de <strong>rutozid</strong>, nu
este intrebuintata pentru obtinerea acestuia.
        Partile aeriene ale plantei mai contin <strong>derivati cumarinici</strong> intre care
mentionam bergaptenul si xantotoxina, care au actiune iritanta asupra pielii.
        Actiunea principala este cea <strong>emenagoga</strong>, fapt pentru care a fost
utilizata in scopuri abortive. datorita actiunii puternic emenagogene, care
este insotita de metroragii puternice, utilizarea ei in acest scop este extrem
de periculoasa.
        In ultimul deceniu, peste hotare s-au izolat din aceasta planta unele
substante noi cu <strong>actiune antispastica</strong>, prin tehnici speciale de indepartare a
alcaloizilor cu actiune toxica.
        In cazul utilizarii preparatelor din aceasta specie in scopuri
abortive, efectele nocive se manifesta prin gastroenterite grave, excitatie
urmata de depresiune, hipotermie, puls lent, poliurie, inflamarea uterului,
hemoragii uterine puternice, tulburari esnzoriale, somnolenta, coma, moarte.</pre>

Viscul (Viscum album L.)

        Este o <strong>specie semiparazita</strong>, cunoscuta de toti datorita obiceiului ca
de <strong>Anul Nou</strong> sa se ornamenteze lustrele si lampadarele cu crengute de visc cu
bobite albe (fructe).
        In special viscul recoltat de pe plop, artar, tei si salcie este foarte
toxic. Viscul de pe mesteacan, brad, frasin, mar si par este folosit la
obtinerea  unor medicamente cu actiune hipotensiva si citostatica, binenteles
in produse farmaceutice precis dozate si utilizate numai la recomandarea
medicului.
        Compozitia chimica este diferita, in functie de planta gazda. Din visc
s-au izolat <strong>saponozide triterpenice</strong>, betaamirina, derivati ai acidului
oleanolic, viscotoxina, viscolul, amine (colina si acetilcolina), beta-
feniletilamina, substante grase, substante de natura glicozidica etc.
        Utilizarile ca medicament se bazeaza in special pe substante de natura
triterpenica, derivati de colina si viscotoxina.
        Intoxicatia se caracterizeaza prin <strong>paralizie bulbara</strong>, aritmie si stop
cardiac si respirator.</pre>

        Otelurile sunt <strong>aliaje fier-carbon</strong> cu 0,1-1,7% C, 0,3% Si, 0,6% Mn,
0,05% P, si 0,05% S. Otelurile cu mai putin de 0,5% C se numesc fier forjabil.
Otelurile bogate in carbon, cu cca. 1,4% C sunt deosebit de dure si se
utilizeaza la fabricarea <em>sculelor aschietoare</em>. Otelurile care mai contin si
alte metale  (Ti, V, Cr, Mo, W, Co, Ni) se numesc <strong>oteluri aliate</strong> si se

<em>parfumate</em>. Infloreste primavara foarte de vreme, cind mai exista inca petice
de zapada. Fructele, la inceput verzi, se coloreaza in <em>rosu</em>.</pre>

<pre>        Atit fructele cit si scoarta de Tulichina sunt  toxice datorita unor
substante active pe care le contin: <strong>dafnoziduldafnoretina</strong>, <strong>umbeliferona</strong>, o
<em>arezina</em> iritanta cu proprietati vezicante. In medicina empirica se utilizeaza
diferite preparate obtinute din scoarta subarbustului in <em>dermatoze</em> greu
vindecabile, in <em>dureri reumatice</em>, ca <em>revulsiv</em>, in <em>dureri de cap</em> si de <em>dinti</em>
sau ca <em>insecticid</em>. Aceste utilizari au fost parasite datorita toxicitatii si
iritarii tegumentelor pe care se aplica preparatele din aceasta planta.</pre>
